Let’s jump into the idea

Well, not so fast. We are combining two audiences: cartoon and web3. About the terminology mentioned earlier. In our quest, with the rest of the web3 community, to make NFTs more mainstream, we want to take a second to break a few things down:

  1. For cartoon fans who are just being introduced to NFTs and PFPs, let’s quickly cover the basics. If you’re already a web3 fan, scrolling is a good way to skip the next section.

  2. For web3 fans who are just being introduced to cartoons, well, maybe...umm. Really not sure what to tell you.

NFTs

What are those? NFT stands for "Non-Fungible Token," which is a digital asset that represents ownership of a unique item or piece of content. It is a type of cryptocurrency that is stored on a blockchain, typically the Ethereum blockchain, and cannot be exchanged for another token or asset at a one-to-one ratio, unlike traditional currencies or cryptocurrencies.

NFTs are used to verify ownership and authenticity of digital assets, such as artwork, music, videos, and other forms of digital content. Each NFT is unique, and contains metadata that describes the digital asset it represents, including its creator, its ownership history, and other details. The ownership of an NFT is recorded on the blockchain, making it a secure and transparent way to prove ownership of a unique digital item.

Thanks. But, WTF does that mean?

Think of it like a physical painting, where each one is unique and can be owned by one person at a time. An NFT is like a digital version of that painting, where it's a unique piece of digital content that can be owned by one person at a time.

The difference between an NFT and other digital files like pictures, videos or music is that the NFT is verified as being unique and authentic through blockchain technology. It's like a certificate of ownership.

So, when someone owns an NFT, they have a digital record that proves they are the owner. And just like with physical art, the ownership of an NFT can be sold from one person to another.

What about PFPs?

PFP stands for "Profile Picture" in online and social media contexts. It represents an individual or organization on various online platforms, such as social media, forums, or messaging apps.

A PFP can be any image, such as a photo, graphic, or illustration. The profile picture is typically displayed alongside the user's name and other information and is often used as a way to identify the user and their content.

Moving to the cartoon

Asteroid Diner is an 8-episode cartoon series that takes place 300 years in the future. The series follows two unlikely characters, Dexter and Kita, as they travel around an asteroid belt in a space food truck, visiting futuristic-themed asteroid after futuristic-themed asteroid, with the goal of contracting the 10 original, unmutated viruses of the universe.

The cartoon is filled with strange adventures, unexpected turns, and adult situations, which are sprinkled with more than a few words we can’t write here. Can Dexter and Kita find all 10 viruses? Is Dexter willing to do what is needed to contract them all? Can he survive the stacking side effects? And most importantly, why is he willingly contracting viruses in the first place?
